What is Breast augmentation

Breast augmentation is the second most common plastic surgery. The procedure is also known as breast enlargement breast implant surgery or boob job. It is performed in order to enhance the size and shape of the boobs. The procedure is usually recommended to women who find their breasts too small or asymmetric and as such they need augmentation of one or both breats. Before the surgery, women discuss with their doctor the results that they would like to achieve witht the procedure and what the best course of action would be.

Breast augmentation in Tunisia

During the procedure the surgeon makes a small incision. Then he inserts an implant made of a silicone shell and filled with silicone gel (saline solutions are no longer used). Breast augmentation result should look natural. In order for the surgeon to perform breast volume augmentation procedure, there is need for general anesthesia. As a result, the patient is unconcious during the surgery.

What to expect immediately after the surgical operation?

After a boobs surgery, the patient may expect to experience bruising, numbness, swelling, soreness and discomfort. All these symptoms can be kept under control through medication. Although medication differs from a country to another, in Tunisia the medecines used after the operation are similar to those used in Europe.

It is common to feel some pain during the first 15 days and it takes about 30 days to get used to implants. At first, patients have gauze dressing, which will then be replaced by a surgical bra.

How is the follow up in Tunisia?

The patient is supposed to spend five nights in Tunisia, one before the surgery and two after it in the private clinic and then two nights in the hotel or a similar medical unit. The surgeon sees the patient before the surgery to discuss all the details and answer the patient’s questions. Then he sees the patient every day during his accommodation the clinic. After leaving the clinic, the surgeon sees again the patient for a last meeting before leaving Tunisia. During this visit the surgeon gives his instructions for the follow up after departure and any information requested by the patient. After leaving Tunisia the patient has to keep the surgeon informed about any complication, and in case everything is alright, the patient has to provide photos 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after the surgery otherwise the surgeon would not be able to act in case the final result is not satisfactory to the patient.

How to prepare yourself ?

It is important to get as much information as possible before taking the decision of undergoing such a surgery. The expectations have to be realistic and it is important to remember that every patient is unique. The initial breasts affect the possible results, that means the fact of choosing the same surgeon, the same implant brand and size doesn’t mean at all getting the same result. It is very important to see as much results as possible and to see patient’s testimonials. What might seem ugly to someone might be an achievement for another one and vice versa. As such any information is important to take.

How much does boob job cost?

In Tunisia you should expect to have to pay about €2,400 including accommodation on full board, which is a lot cheaper than in other European countries. However, the prices may vary according to the expectations and requirements.
