I have encountered only 3 patients with old ruptured silicone implants who had the symptoms described by Dr. Khan who reported improvement after en-block capsulectomies. All 3 had extravasated silicone extending to their axillas.
I do not recommand to me silicone implants patient removal of their implants unless there is extracapsular leakage associated with symptoms or suspicion of malignancy.
